Vivrtih Journal of Food Science and Clinical Nutrition follows a single-blind peer review process, ensuring that reviewers remain anonymous while authors’ identities are disclosed to reviewers. This approach maintains transparency while allowing for an unbiased evaluation of the manuscript’s quality, originality, and relevance.

1. Submission Received: Manuscripts are submitted via the journal's online submission portal or designated email address.
2. Pre-Editorial Screening: The Managing Editor conducts an initial assessment for scope alignment, formatting, completeness, and ethical compliance, then forwards the manuscript to an appropriate Associate Editor or the Editor-in-Chief based on subject relevance.
3. Editorial Screening: The assigned editor reviews the manuscript for thematic fit, quality of presentation, and readiness for peer review.
4. Reviewer Selection & Invitation: Qualified reviewers are invited based on subject expertise and absence of conflicts of interest.
5. Single-Blind Peer Review: Reviewers’ identities are not disclosed to authors. Each reviewer provides constructive, evidence-based feedback on the manuscript’s scientific quality, clarity, and originality.
6. Editorial Decision: Based on reviewer comments, the editor issues a decision: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject. The editor may clarify or moderate reviewer feedback before communicating it to the authors.
7. Revision & Re-review: Minor revisions may be assessed by the editor. Major revisions typically undergo a second round of peer review.
8. Final Acceptance & Proofing: Accepted manuscripts are copyedited, proofread, and prepared for publication.

Reviewers are expected to uphold the journal’s standards of scholarly rigour and ethical integrity. Key expectations include:

• Evaluation Criteria:

• Originality & Contribution: Novel contributions or well-structured findings
• Scientific Rigour: Sound methodology, data integrity, and analytical clarity
• Clarity: Logical structure and quality of writing
• Ethical Integrity: Adherence to research and publication ethics
• Responsiveness: Reviewers’ comments must be constructive and sufficiently addressed by the authors during revision
• Confidentiality: All manuscripts and review materials are confidential. Reviewers must not share or discuss content outside the review process.
• Constructive Feedback: Reviews should be specific, respectful, and focused on improving the manuscript.
• Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts and decline the review if impartiality is compromised.
• Timeliness: Reviews are expected within 18 days of acceptance of review invitation. Extensions may be provided upon request.

• Acceptance: Requires at least two favourable reviews. Minor revisions may be accepted without re-review.
• Revision: Major revisions trigger a second round of peer review. Once authors submit the revised manuscript, it will undergo a second round of review before a final decision.
• Rejection: Manuscripts are rejected if both reviewers identify fundamental flaws in methodology, logic, or ethical compliance.

VJFSCN adheres to COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. All parties—authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to uphold:

• Integrity in research and reporting
• Transparency in authorship and funding
• Respect for intellectual property
• Zero tolerance for plagiarism or data fabrication

Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a detailed justification. Appeals must be submitted within 14 days of the decision email. The Editor-in-Chief reviews appeals and may take 3–4 weeks to process. While under appeal, the manuscript shall not be submitted anywhere else. The EiC's decision is final.

During revision, authors must submit a point-by-point response to reviewer comments, clearly indicating how each concern has been addressed. Revised manuscripts should be submitted within the specified timeframe or authors may request an extension if needed.
